New St. Louis Office Location

LIFT has moved its main office from the Westport area to the newly renovated Old Post Office building in downtown St. Louis. Our new address is 815 Olive Street, Suite 22, St. Louis MO 63101. In addition, our local telephone and fax numbers have changed, but our toll-free telephone numbers remain the same. The new local phone number is (314)678-4443 and the new fax number is (314)678-2938.
This move was made in partnership with Webster University, which signed a lease for more than 32,000 square feet of space in the Old Post Office building. The University is using the space as its new downtown campus, with classes beginning with the Spring 2006 semester.
The historic building is concurrently undergoing a $35 million renovation as part of a plan to revive the Old Post Office Square District. A 1,050-space parking garage is under construction across the street at the former site of the Century Building. When renovation is completed, the Old Post Office will contain over 155,000 square feet of office and retail space. In addition to LIFT's offices and Webster's campus, the building will house the U.S. Court of Appeals Eastern District, a Pasta House Pronto restaurant, a satellite branch of the St. Louis Public Library, and the offices of the St. Louis Business Journal.
Originally known as the U.S. Custom House and Post Office, the Old Post Office was completed in 1884 and is 242,000 square feet and four stories tall with two additional levels below grade. The Old Post Office was originally built as an emblem of the city's significance in the country's recovery and its importance as a hub for post-Civil War expansion westward. Its purpose was to house all Federal offices in the growing city, but over the last century it has served a variety of purposes. The building was last renovated in the late 1970's under a public-private agreement coordinated by the General Services Administration.
The current renovation of the Old Post Office building, and the construction of the adjacent 9th Street Garage, is just part of the development of the nine-block Old Post Office Square District. The Old Post Office project is the centerpiece of an effort to transform downtown St. Louis into a 24-hour mixed-use neighborhood. Other renovations include the expansion of the Mayfair Hotel, the development of the Roberts Lofts in the former Board of Education Building, the renovation of the Paul Brown Building into 223 apartments, the Arcade Building, and a number of other mixed-use residential loft projects in the District.
